About the job

That is why nlmtd is looking for an experienced Lead Security & Resilience: a strategic thinker and connector with the drive and decisiveness to accelerate innovation, change, and collaboration within complex security and defence environments.

You will work at the intersection of strategy, innovation, and transformation, collaborating with organisations such as Defence, the Police, intelligence and investigative services, as well as international defence and security organisations such as the European Defence Agency, the NATO Innovation Hub, and the public and private partners working alongside them in the security domain.

With your vision, network, and experience, you will help make the Netherlands and Europe safer, more agile, and more resilient.

You strengthen innovation capacity and the ability to change, help shape the right conditions in a smart way, and ensure that new ideas truly contribute to operational effectiveness, from improved deployability to greater agility and enhanced protection of people and assets.

In this role, you will make a real difference at the crossroads of innovation, strategy, and security. You help move ideas forward, from vision to reality, and support organisations in the security domain in innovating faster, smarter, and more effectively.

What will you do

Driving vision and acceleration
You identify opportunities and design innovation programmes and change initiatives in a way that truly creates impact. You understand how innovation works within the security domain, and what it takes to move it from idea to implementation.

Strengthening ecosystems and collaboration
You connect people and organisations, from ministries to research institutes, industry partners, and start-ups, to solve complex challenges together. You know that the power of innovation lies in collaboration, not in silos.

Leading, inspiring, and delivering results
You guide and inspire a team of nlmtd consultants, bring structure to complexity, and translate knowledge and insights into concrete solutions. You know how to sustainably strengthen change capacity and innovation power within client organisations.

Operating strategically and practically
You combine strategic insight with strong tactical judgement for timing and stakeholder management. You know how to define the right next steps and ensure innovations truly land, from experiment to scale.

About you

• 15+ years of work experience as a consultant within the security or defence domain

• A strong network within Defence, security services, research institutes and/or industry

• Experience with innovation, change management, and ecosystem development

• Strategically strong, but also pragmatic, an excellent communicator, and results-driven

• An inspiring leader who knows how to connect and activate others

• Master’s-level (WO) education and thinking

• You speak excellent Dutch and English and live in the Netherlands

• A plus: if you are a reservist or planning to become one

• A Certificate of Conduct (VOG) is required; security clearance (VGB) is a plus

Terms and conditions

• 80% of the rate is yours, and you contribute 20% (as an investment in you and in nlmtd’s growth)

• A 12% commission when you bring in assignments for other nlmtd consultants

• The freedom and responsibility to shape your own assignments and client relationships, and to work on challenging projects aligned with your personal interests
